The history of the JSC "LugCentroKuZ" began with a steam forging operation and later a steam locomotive works, built in the beginning of the 20th century by Gustav Hartmann, a German industrialist. The new steam locomotive works, built in Lugansk, became the largest of its type in Europe manufacturing locomotives of its own design. Equipped with powerful equipment the forging operation forged and die cut components for the railroad rolling stock of that time.
In the middle of the 1950s the steam locomotive works was reorganized in order to produce a new product, main-line diesel locomotives. At that time many of the shops, among them a forging-press, were modernized. The steam-air hammers were modernized to new and efficient designs and operated in a closed energy cycle with the factory's steam generating power station.
The political "perestroyka" at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of 1990s opened opportunities for new enterpreneurs. In February, 1992 on the initiative of the personnel of forging shop the company "Lugansky Centralny Kuznechny Zavod" - LC "LugCentroKuZ" (Lugansk Central Blacksmith's Factory - in English) was established.
In September 1993, the company was reorganized as a Joint Stock Company "LugCentroKuZ" in which management and employees acquired full ownership of the plant and all its facilities. Joint Stock Company "LugCentroKuZ" is a dynamically developing company, with highly professional and devoted personnel. It is equipped with modern, sophisticated forging equipment. The company specializes in the production of forging, die cutting and closed die-forging parts with the emphasis on semi-finished products for application as spare parts used in automotive, railroad and hoisting market segments, and machine building industry and products for pipeline construction.
